I am most impressed by Ms. Yan's personality. She is confident, optimistic, hard-working and a mature thinker. She shows exceptional determination, and is not daunted by any difficulties. She believes that she can achieve anything through hard work. Furthermore, she is a kind person with a warm heart, who shows concern not only for her classmates, but also for society at large. I have vivid memories of her community involvement. During the summer of 2000, she organized her classmates to provide volunteer help for elderly people who had lost their spouses or offspring during the flood in Hunan, helping them clean their houses and organizing entertaining performances. This initiative was greatly praised by teachers and students throughout the university. I have always felt that this young woman would achieve a bright future.
